COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update #5
Thursday, May 28, 2020: As much of Canada enters stage 2 of its restart plan, we are looking into opportunities to bring people outdoors safely.
We are following the advice of the provincial government and health authorities and working closely with parks and bus companies to get some of our operations started again in July and August. Safety measures we are looking to implement include:
- - Readily available hand sanitizer for drivers and passengers.
- - Increased cleaning of vehicles before and after each passenger trip, such as sanitizing surfaces, door handles and seats.
- - Keeping windows open as much as possible to allow for air circulation.
- - Limiting the number of passengers in a bus to support physical distancing.
- - Wearing of face masks on buses.
- - Temperature checks before entering the bus and upon re-entering the bus.
In addition to these measures, we ask that all members of our Parkbus community adhere to these practices:
- - Stay home if you are feeling unwell.
- - Frequent handwashing.
- - Sneezing or coughing into your sleeve.
- - Avoid touching your face.
- - Do not share food or drinks.
- - Practice physical distancing.
Your health is important to us and we are working hard to ensure that you can travel to and explore our parks safely. More updates are coming soon. Please get in touch with us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update #4
Sunday, April 26, 2020: All trips scheduled between now and May 31st are now cancelled. All passengers scheduled for those trips will receive a full refund.
In the meantime, we are working with our friends, partners and the government on developing an operational plan for the rest of the summer. Parkbus Taiwan, which has been operational during the pandemic, offers some good lessons for Canada, including new cleaning protocols, mandatory masks, hand sanitizer, and spare seats.
No matter what happens, your health and safety is our top priority - and we will not resume our operations until we are certain we have done everything to protect our passengers in those uncertain times.
COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update #3
March 18, 2020: All trips scheduled between now and May 1st are now cancelled. All passengers scheduled for those trips will receive a full refund. Stay safe everyone!
COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update #2
March 12, 2020: Following the guidance from the authorities, we are canceling all trips in the next two weeks (March 13-27). All passengers scheduled for those trips will receive a full refund.
Following March 27 we are keeping our trips on schedule, but will only run them if we can find ways to adjust our operations and minimize risks to our passengers and staff. We will also be following government advice, and may cancel trips or modify itineraries or maximum capacities, if necessary. We are also removing our 48 hour no change policy for now. You will now receive full credit for future travel even if you cancel last minute, as long as you let us know any time before departure. This policy will remain in effect until April 14, and may be extended or modified as necessary.
If you are feeling unwell, have been in contact with known coronavirus patients, or have travelled abroad in the 14 days or less prior to your trip, DO NOT travel at this time. You may also be denied boarding if you exhibit respiratory illness symptoms.
Spring - Summer - Fall 2020 Service
In the longer term, we are looking forward to the summer! We expect that the situation will get back to normal, and with new measures, our summer service will run for the 10th year. In fact, our summer service tickets are selling out faster than ever - after all, camping and hiking are best ways to spend this summer given what is happening elsewhere. As usual, all our tickets are fully refundable 2 weeks before the travel date, so you can plan your Parkbus adventures now and cancel later, if necessary.
In the meantime...
In the meantime, if you have no alternative means to get outside, we encourage you to explore nature in and near the city. From Toronto’s excellent ravine system to Vancouver’s Stanley Park, we are blessed to have incredible city parks that are under appreciated and unknown to many of us.
We recognize that for many Canadians, Parkbus is an essential service that allows them to get away from the city and anxieties and stresses of everyday life (and current situation). Together, we will get through this, and will get stronger with lessons learned. Please get in touch about your thoughts, ideas, suggestions and recommendations, join our Facebook page, or ActiveDays Ontario and ActiveDays BC Facebook groups.
Stay healthy everyone!
