Immerse yourself in nature in Gatineau Park, the Capital’s conservation and outdoor recreation park, just 15 minutes from downtown Ottawa–Gatineau. One of the few places in Quebec with such rich biodiversity, the Park is a sanctuary for more than 100 species of plants and animals at risk. Gatineau Park is managed by the National Capital Commission (NCC). Year-round, enjoy a range of activities —swimming, hiking, biking, camping, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing — as well as heritage sites and nature interpretation.

Parkbus offers two options for those who wish to experience Gatineau Park: Route A (shorter) goes from downtown Ottawa and ends at Champlain Lookout, offering stops at the Pink Lake trailhead, MacKenzie King Estate and King Mountain Trailhead. Route B (longer) will take you from downtown Ottawa all the way to Phillippe Lake, where you could spend a full day hiking and relaxing on beautiful beaches.

AT THE PARK

Once you reach your selected destination, you are responsible for yourself. There are no guides or guided trips, as Parkbus provides only transportation. Also please note that there is no food or water for sale in the Park. You must bring your own food and water for the day.

TAKING THE ESSENTIALS

Always carry these essentials and know how to use them. You may add other equipment specific to your chosen activity, season, and location.

- Flashlight
- Insect Repellent
- Signalling device (i.e. whistle)
- Extra food and lots of water (at least 2L)
- Extra clothing
- Navigational/communication devices
- First aid kit
- Emergency blanket/shelter
- Sun protection

When you visit any park, please adhere to Leave No Trace principles. Feeding wildlife is dangerous and illegal. It is illegal to collect or damage any plants in the Park or leave garbage. Please take only photos, leave only footprints.

Please make sure that you wear comfortable clothes and have proper hiking shoes. There is limited cellphone reception in the area.
