ActiveDays invites you to come out and explore the incredible waterfalls and glacial valleys that are closer than you think. The Dundas Valley lies next to Hamilton — but you would never know it. This conservation area contains waterfalls, forests, meadows, rivers and unique geological formations. The Dundas Valley spreads out into Lake Ontario and is part of the Niagara Escarpment World Biosphere. There is a 450 million year old geologic history here and we will be walking through the biodiverse Carolinian Forest that can be found nowhere else in Canada. Along the way, we will encounter three breathtaking waterfalls — Tiffany, Sherman and Canterbury Falls.
One of the great things about this hike, is it allows for us to add on sections of trail to extend and shorten the hike to meet different hikers needs. The hike can be as short as 6-7kms for some and can be lengthened to 12-13km for others. We will have different groups walking at different paces. We will be dropped off at Tiffany Falls and be picked up from the Dundas Valley Trail Centre.
This is a trip not to be missed. Come out and make new friends, visit new places and see how the outdoors is closer to the city than you think.

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH ACTIVEDAYS
To us, facilitating this event is about creating an environment that you can engage with in your own way. This is your experience and everyone has their own relationship with the outdoors and their bodies. We want to meet you where you are at — you can hike, run and explore by yourself or in a group. We will have a variety of groups walking at different paces. We’re not geological experts — but we’ll share all we know about the forest and landscape. Come with us and walk in silence, play 20 questions and get to know some new people.
ActiveDays is also a community. This is an inclusive space to meet new people, share stories and have fun! To us, there is no better place to get to know someone than the outdoors. We all share a desire to get out, explore and move.
We will also be providing everyone a map and some information on some of the geology of the region.
WHAT TO BRING

YOUR PARKBUS LEAD: WALKER KITCHENS
Walker Kitchens is ActiveDays Program Coordinator, and he loves learning outdoors. Childhood summers spent outside in Ontario and Newfoundland fostered a deep curiosity within him that continues to grow. This desire to explore led him abroad. After two years of working as a facilitator in Cambodia and India, Walker has returned home to Toronto keen to venture back into the Canadian environment. Knowledge sharing and community building energize him and he is excited to help build a community that is eager to share ideas, stories and skills in a collaborative way. When you see him, ask him to tell you a story and make sure to share with him a passion, skill or story of your own.
