Parkbus Seasonal Coordinator (Vancouver)

Parkbus has been operating in Ontario for the past 7 years, allowing Torontonians the opportunity to connect with nature and escape the city. For many of them the outdoors are inaccessible due to lack of knowledge, experience or financial reasons. Now coming to Vancouver, our goal is to improve access and address these barriers preventing many from enjoying the great outdoors. The Parkbus Seasonal Coordinator will be based out of Vancouver and work closely with Parkbus managers to coordinate runs, recruit volunteers and assist in marketing efforts towards increasing ridership and raising awareness of sustainable transportation options and alternatives to car ownership.

This position requires access to a computer, and ability to work from home at least some of the time.

START DATE: flexible

END DATE: one position until end of August, another until end of October


The position is based out of Vancouver, with some regional travel required.


$15 per hour, depending on qualifications

Estimated 15-25 hours per week


  • Develop outreach strategies for new Canadians and other priority population segments in the greater Vancouver area

  • Work closely with the community and media to promote best practices and leave no trace principles when visiting the outdoors

  • Help create and distribute content through existing promotional channels.


  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field, or a current student.

  • Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Familiarity and passion for outdoor recreation and the parks systems.

  • This position requires a high degree of self-motivation, initiative and creativity.

Parkbus is Canada’s bus network connecting major cities to national and provincial parks. It is a project of Transportation Options (T.O.), a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering sustainable tourism and transportation in Ontario, as well as of BEST (Better Environmentally Sound Transportation) - a non-profit charitable organization with a long history promoting sustainable transportation in British Columbia.
