THIS ACTIVEDAYS TRIP IS ORGANIZED BY THE ACTIVEDAYS COMMUNITY. SEE ALL ACTIVEDAYS TRIPS AND JOIN US VIA OUR FACEBOOK GROUP!
This is not a time to stay inside. ActiveDays and Parkbus are strapping on some snowshoes and heading up to Arrowhead Provincial Park to explore some beautiful winter trails. The winter is distinctively Canadian and there is a deep beauty in this winter landscape. Arrowhead Provincial Park is best in the coldest months.
Come with us and we will lead you through the snowy trails in Arrowhead Provincial Park. We will explore and play as we learn how to move through this snowy landscape with snowshoes. We are here to help you learn how to fit your snowshoes properly and use them efficiently. Trust us, winter can be fun!
This package includes snowshoe rentals, transport, entry and trail passes.
We will depart Toronto from our four pick up locations. Once we arrive at the park we will have roughly 5 hours to hike and explore. There are also some great warm up stations to stop along the way!
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH ACTIVEDAYS:
ActiveDays is building a community through the outdoors. This is an inclusive space to meet new people, share stories and have fun! To us, there is no better place to get to know someone than the outdoors. We all share a desire to get out, explore and stretch our legs.
To us, facilitating this event is about creating an environment that you can engage with in your own way. This is your experience and everyone has their own relationship with the outdoors and their bodies. We want to meet you where you are at — you can explore by yourself or in a group. We will have a variety of groups exploring at different paces. We’re not geological experts — but we’ll share all we know about the forest and landscape. Come with us and walk in silence, play 20 questions or just get to know some new people.
We will also be providing everyone a map and some information on some of the geology of the region.
- Warm winter boots (of course!)
- Water (You can store extra water on the bus for when you’re done.)
- Lunch/Snacks (nut free please!)
- Warm Clothes with lots of layers
- Whatever else you need to have fun on the trail :)
YOUR HIKE LEADER: WALKER KITCHENS
Walker Kitchens is ActiveDays Program Coordinator, and he loves learning outdoors. Childhood summers spent outside in Ontario and Newfoundland fostered a deep curiosity within him that continues to grow. This desire to explore led him abroad. After two years of working as a facilitator in Cambodia and India, Walker has returned home to Toronto keen to venture back into the Canadian environment. Knowledge sharing and community building energize him and he is excited to help build a community that is eager to share ideas, stories and skills in a collaborative way. When you see him, ask him to tell you a story and make sure to share with him a passion, skill or story of your own.
