Due to increased visitation and limited parking space, as of 2017, no cars or buses are permitted to park or drop passengers off at Webster Falls, Tews Falls or Dundas Peak on summer weekends. All visitors must first arrive to nearby Christie Lake Conservation Area (about 5 min away), and then take the shuttle operated by the park.

In partnership with Hamilton Conservation Authority, Parkbus is offering direct bus service to Christie Lake Conservation Area - a point of departure for the shuttle, and an amazing day trip destination in itself. The park admission (for all parks) and the cost of the shuttle is included in your Parkbus ticket price.

The park shuttle departs Christie Lake every 15 minutes, allowing Parkbus passengers to visit famous Webster Falls, Tews Falls and then hike to the peak (allow at least 2 hours for all 3 destinations). In addition to these destinations, Parkbus passenges have opportunity to spend the rest of the day at Christie Lake Conservation Area, which has additional opportunities to hike, picnic, swim, fish, paddle, and spend the day away from the crowds. Admission to all parks is included with your Parkbus ticket.

Pets are not permitted on this route, as they are not allowed on the shuttle operated by the park. There are no guides, although park staff will be available to answer your questions. A beachside kiosk is open in July, August and some weekends and sells water, snacks and other essentials at Christie Lake only.

Visitor and Trail Safety

There are areas in the Spencer Gorge Conservation Area that are fenced off and closed to the public for safety reasons. Never climb or otherwise bypass this safety fencing. The slopes and edges of the escarpment can be unstable and pose a fall hazard. If a user falls in an escarpment area, the only way to assist them out of the area is through a rope rescue by the Hamilton Fire Department, who are trained to carry out these rescues safely. There have been serious injuries to visitors that have attempted to access the gorge area.

  • The most important safety rule in the Spencer Gorge Conservation Area is to STAY ON THE TRAILS ALL THE TIME.
  • Keep well back from the edge of the gorge and escarpment areas, at least a body length. Adults should keep children and pets well away from these areas.
  • Please note that there is NO access available to the bottom of the falls.
