ActiveDays and Parkbus are lacing up our boots and heading to Mono Cliffs Provincial Park to trek through some magical forest and imposing cliffs. Just over an hour from Toronto and nestled within rolling hills, Mono Cliffs is a gem. The Bruce Trail passes through and follows a trail above some escarpment cliffs that can reach 30m in height. There are great viewpoints and stunning rock formations. Mono Cliffs is also home to a beautiful forest filled with ferns and old growth trees. It’s a wild and atmospheric space.
We will depart Toronto at 8:30 and 8:45AM from our two pick up locations. Once we arrive at Mono Cliffs we will have roughly 4 hours to hike and explore. There is a network of trails that can be linked to extend or shorten the hike.
We can’t think of a better way to spend the day. Come with us and explore.
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH ACTIVEDAYS
To us, facilitating this event is about creating an environment that you can engage with in your own way. This is your experience and everyone has their own relationship with the outdoors and their bodies. We want to meet you where you are at — you can hike, swim and explore by yourself or in a group. We will have a variety of groups walking at different paces. We’re not geological experts — but we’ll share all we know about the forest and landscape. Come with us and walk in silence, play 20 questions or just get to know some new people.
ActiveDays is also a community. This is an inclusive space to meet new people, share stories and have fun! To us, there is no better place to get to know someone than the outdoors. We all share a desire to get out, explore and stretch our legs.
We will also be providing everyone a map and some information on some of the geology of the region.
What to Bring
- Lunch (nut free please!)

- Water (2 liters)
- Rain Coat
- Whatever else you need to have fun on the trail :)

Contact with nature has been found to lower blood pressure, strengthen the immune system, help prevent disease, and reduce stress levels. In addition, a two hour walk in the woods is enough to improve sleep quality and help relieve sleep problems and going for a walk outdoors promotes creative thinking. YOUR HIKE LEADER: WALKER KITCHENS
Walker Kitchens is ActiveDays Program Coordinator, and he loves learning outdoors. Childhood summers spent outside in Ontario and Newfoundland fostered a deep curiosity within him that continues to grow. This desire to explore led him abroad. After two years of working as a facilitator in Cambodia and India, Walker has returned home to Toronto keen to venture back into the Canadian environment. Knowledge sharing and community building energize him and he is excited to help build a community that is eager to share ideas, stories and skills in a collaborative way. When you see him, ask him to tell you a story and make sure to share with him a passion, skill or story of your own.
