Restoule Day Trip

This isn’t your average day trip. It’s a full-day escape into wild beauty off the beaten path and deep into Northern Ontario. If you're up for the adventure, Restoule Provincial Park will reward you with sweeping vistas, quiet trails, and a refreshing dip in its clear lake. It's a long day, but an unforgettable one.
We’ll hit the road early from downtown Toronto at 6:00 a.m., making a quick pit stop in Huntsville for snacks and coffee, before arriving at the park around 10:30 a.m. That gives you nearly eight hours to soak up the best of Restoule -- an underrated gem where boreal forests meet dramatic cliffs and quiet waters.
Join our experienced guides for a scenic hike along Restoule’s trail network—over 10 km of trails wind through mature forest, across boardwalks, and up rocky ridges. You’ll make your way to the top of the Fire Tower Trail, which rewards the climb with panoramic views from Stormy Lake Bluff, a stunning 100-meter-high cliff overlooking the water below. It’s the park’s must-see feature and well worth the trek.
After the hike, enjoy free time to relax at the park’s sandy beach, go for a swim, or rent a canoe, kayak, or paddleboard to explore the lake at your own pace.
We’ll head home around 6:30 p.m., returning to Toronto with memories of one of Ontario’s most beautiful (and least crowded) parks.

Hiking at Restoule Provincial Park
Restoule is packed with beautiful and varied hiking options, whether you’re looking for a gentle riverside walk or a challenging climb with epic views. Here are some of the top trails you can explore during your Parkbus day trip:
Fire Tower Trail – 4.1 km – 1.5 to 2 hours
This is the signature hike at Restoule and the one you won’t want to miss. The trail winds through mature forest, across boardwalks, and over rugged ridges, offering scenic stops at Amber Lake and a historic fire tower. The big payoff? A jaw-dropping lookout from the top of Stormy Lake Bluff—100 meters above the water.
Grawbarger Trail – 1 km – 15 minutes
An easygoing trail network that connects different areas of the park, including the day-use beach and campground. It follows the Grawbarger Rapids and makes for a peaceful walk through the woods.
River Trail – 1.2 km – 30 minutes
This short, scenic loop on the west side of the Restoule River takes you along the shoreline and through rolling forest. A great choice for a relaxed stroll before or after a swim.
Rangers Point Trail – 860 m – 20 minutes
A quick trail with a big payoff. This route leads to two lakeside picnic spots with stunning views of Stormy Lake Bluff and the fire tower in the distance. Ideal for a casual walk or bike ride.
Angels Point Trail – 2.8 km – 1 hour
This looped trail is designed with mountain biking in mind, but hikers are welcome too. The inner single-track is full of dips, turns, and elevation changes, while the outer double-track is wider and easier. It winds through vibrant hardwood forest and connects to Ranger’s Point.
Gibs Trail – 4.8 km round-trip – 2 hours
A quiet, linear trail that travels through mature beech and mixed hardwood forest. It ends at a peaceful swim spot and scenic lookout on the shore of Stormy Lake—perfect for a break before heading back.
