Three ways to do it

The price is for the bus, not per person. Fill it and it is cheap per head. Half fill it and it still costs the same, which is worth knowing before you promise your boss a number.

Pick a park within about three hours of your city and we will get everybody there and back in a day. The Bruce, Algonquin, Killarney, the Rouge, the escarpment, Elora, the Pinery. If you can name it and a coach can reach it, we have probably run it.

The Algonquin weekend

Two nights, and nobody has to drive at midnight

The trip we have run more than any other. Out on the Friday or the Saturday, two nights up at the park, and home on the Sunday or the Monday. We will sort the beds with you, whether that is campsites, a set of cabins or the safari tents at Four Corners.

  • Return coach, and a driver who has done this road a hundred times
  • Beds arranged with the operator, on one invoice
  • Park permits and the paperwork that goes with them
  • A suggested plan for the Saturday, or none at all if you have one

Add a guide

A bus gets you there. A guide gives you a day.

We run more than thirty guided trips a season with our own guides, and you can put one on your charter. Without one, a group arrives at a trailhead and looks at each other.

  • Somebody who knows the trail No map reading, no wrong turns, nobody left at the back. Our guides have led these routes for years.
  • The day is planned before you board Where you walk, where you stop, how long it takes and what happens if it rains. You do not have to build an itinerary.
  • It works for people who have never done this A group where half have never been on a trail is the normal case, not the hard one. A guide is what makes that a good day rather than a long one.

How it goes

  1. You tell us the shape of it. Date, roughly how many people, where from and what you have in mind. Two minutes on the form, or one on the phone.
  2. We send a written price. The flat rate for the bus, what is in it, and what is not. Same day wherever we can.
  3. You take it to whoever signs things. Invoice, purchase order, whatever your finance office runs on.
  4. We run the day. One person looking after it from the first email to the last drop off, and they are reachable on the day.

Before you ask your boss

How many people fit on a bus?
A full size highway coach seats 56 and has a washroom on board. A school bus seats around 48 and does not. For smaller groups we can usually put you on a minibus. The flat rate is for the vehicle, so the fewer of you there are the more each seat costs.
How far ahead do we need to book?
The more notice the better, and in practice a few weeks is usually enough outside the September and October peak. Fall colour weekends go early. If your date is close, call us rather than filling in the form and we will tell you straight away whether it is possible.
Can you invoice us, or take a purchase order?
Yes. We work with universities, student unions, school boards, employers and community organisations, and we are used to purchase orders, invoices and net terms. Tell us what your finance office needs and we will send it in that shape.
What if our numbers change?
The price is for the bus, not per head, so twenty people cancelling does not change what you pay us. If the whole group needs to move the date, talk to us early and we will do what we can.
Are you licensed and insured?
Parkbus Inc. is registered with the Travel Industry Council of Ontario, registration #5003628. The coaches are operated by licensed carriers who carry their own commercial insurance, and we can send you certificates if your organisation needs them on file.
Can you handle accessibility needs?
Tell us what you need on the form and we will tell you honestly what we can do. Some vehicles and some trailheads are much better than others, and it is far better to sort that out now than on the day.
Do we have to pick one of the three?
No. Those are the two we run most and a third for everything else. If your idea does not look like any of them, that is the third one.
