A guided day in the Twenty Valley, on the Niagara Escarpment. Ball's Falls and its two waterfalls in the morning, along Twenty Mile Creek through two hundred acres of hardwood, then a tour and a tasting at Flat Rock Cellars on the Twenty Mile Bench. Somebody else drives, which matters more on this trip than most. Adults only.
The tasting is in the fare. The bus leaves from downtown Toronto.

The morning is at Ball's Falls Conservation Area, two hundred acres on Twenty Mile Creek with two waterfalls in it. The Cataract Trail is a 1.7 kilometre loop through hardwood, with stairs and uneven ground near the water. The site has a restored heritage village on it, so there are buildings among the trees.
The Niagara Escarpment runs the length of this valley and the lake keeps it warmer than anywhere else in the province, which is why the vines are here and why the colour hangs on here longest. On 1 November that is the whole bet, and it is an honest one rather than a sure one: see the note below on what to expect.
The afternoon is Flat Rock Cellars, on the Twenty Mile Bench, for a tour and a tasting with the vineyard outside the window. Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and sparkling, with a word about how it is grown while you drink it. There is a shop if you want to take a bottle home.
Two waterfalls, a vineyard, and no designated driver.

Waterfalls, then the winery. The exact timings come with your trip details.

We drop you back
The bus returns to the same place it left from, so you go home the way you came.
This is our estimated return time, not a guarantee. Traffic can change it and some trips do run late, so please leave yourself some room afterwards rather than booking something tight against it.
An autumn day with a short hike and a tasting in it.
Niagara usually peaks between about 10 and 25 October, which puts this trip a week past the end of that window. We are not going to tell you it will be peak colour.
What is in our favour: the escarpment holds its leaves longer than almost anywhere in Ontario, the sheltered ground along Twenty Mile Creek keeps colour after the exposed canopy has gone, and the vineyard turns gold and copper late. Expect the tail of the season, and a lot of it underfoot. The waterfalls and the tasting do not depend on the weather.
Most Parkbus trips are all ages. This one is not, because the last stop is a wine tasting.
Dogs are not permitted either, under both the conservation area regulations and the winery's own policy.
Lunch is not included and there is nowhere convenient to buy one during the walking part of the day.
There is a scheduled break at a scenic spot for you to eat what you brought. There may be something to buy at the winery later on.
Autumn weather here is unpredictable, so dress in layers. A misty autumn forest is arguably better than a sunny one.
If the weather turns genuinely severe we will tell you about any changes to the day.
One date, Sunday 1 November. Tickets are not up yet; the date and the fares will come straight from the booking system when they are.

Parkbus is a great option for nature lovers, whether it's a day trip or overnight camping getaway. The Globe and Mail
Cancel more than 14 days before departure and you get a 90% refund, with 10% withheld for payment processing. Inside 14 days refunds are not available, except for a medical emergency in the 48 hours before departure, which needs a signed doctor’s note within 14 days of the missed trip and returns 50%. Tickets are transferable: you can change the passenger name up to 48 hours before departure.
If Parkbus cancels a trip, you get a full refund. We decide no later than 48 hours before departure and only on confirmed conditions: the park closed or the park authority asking us to stand down, an evacuation order or alert, an area restriction order, the highway closed, or the trip judged unsafe to run. A forecast is not one of those things, and trips run rain or shine.
