Guided Trip

Guided Trip to Crawford Lake / Rattlesnake Point

Guided Trip July 27

Discover a rare meromictic lake where water layers never mix, surrounded by reconstructed 15th-century Iroquoian village and ancient Carolinian forest ecosystems.

Meromictic Lake & Iroquoian Village Guided Trip

Join experienced Parkbus guide Ksenia Khan on a unique guided trip where science, culture, and nature come together. Just outside Toronto is one of Ontario’s rarest natural features: a meromictic lake. Its waters stay perfectly still in layers, preserving centuries of environmental history deep below the surface.

This trip is part of ActiveDays, a Parkbus series for people who like nature, new places, and meeting new people in the best way possible. No experience needed. Just show up and see where it goes.

You’ll stroll through old-growth Carolinian forest, walk the boardwalk over the pristine lake, and explore a reconstructed 15th-century Iroquoian village. Along the way, Ksenia will share stories that connect Indigenous history and natural science in one unforgettable experience.
