Mono Cliffs sits on the Niagara Escarpment along the Bruce Trail, Canada's longest footpath, about an hour and a half north of Toronto. Thirty metre rock faces, boardwalks through cedar, and lookouts across the countryside that open right up once the trees are bare. A Parkbus guide picks the route and walks it with you. Saturday 7 November, and again on Saturday 2 January.

Mono Cliffs is 732 hectares of Ontario Parks land where the Niagara Escarpment breaks through, which means rock faces, ridges and forested valleys rather than the gentle farmland either side of it. The cliff top trail runs past thirty metre cliffs, and the spillway trail drops between them.
The trails wind through cedar and fern, over boardwalks across the wet ground, then climb gently to open lookouts. Early November is the time to stand at one: the leaves are down, the air is clear, and you can see a long way.
It is a day-use park with two vault toilets and nothing else built, no visitor centre and no store, so what you bring is what you have. Your guide picks the route to suit the group and the conditions on the day.

Just north of Yonge and Bloor subway station. Come up the Asquith exit and look for the coach.
This route runs a full-size coach, with a washroom on board.

The bus returns to the same place it left from, so you go home the way you came.

It is colder up there than in the city, and the boardwalks and rock get slippery when wet or frosted. Wear boots with grip and dress in layers.
The leaves will be down by now. That is not a loss on this trip: the lookouts are the point of Mono Cliffs and they are at their widest with nothing in the way.

Cancel more than 14 days before departure and you get a 90% refund, with 10% withheld for payment processing. Inside 14 days refunds are not available, except for a medical emergency in the 48 hours before departure, which needs a signed doctor’s note within 14 days of the missed trip and returns 50%. Tickets are transferable: you can change the passenger name up to 48 hours before departure.
If Parkbus cancels a trip, you get a full refund. We decide no later than 48 hours before departure and only on confirmed conditions: the park closed or the park authority asking us to stand down, an evacuation order or alert, an area restriction order, the highway closed, or the trip judged unsafe to run. A forecast is not one of those things, and trips run rain or shine.
Lace up, bring a layer more than you think you need, and let somebody else drive.
