About Parkbus
Parkbus is a Canadian social enterprise that's been getting people outside since 2010. We run bus services from city centres to provincial and national parks across six provinces, connecting more than 120,000 passengers with the landscapes that make Canada, Canada. Our mission is simple: break down the barriers that keep people from experiencing the outdoors.
In 2026, we're expanding our impact through a formal partnership with VIA Rail Canada and Parks Canada under the Canada Strong initiative — providing sustainable transportation to parks during a national celebration of our natural heritage.
About the Role
We're hiring a Sustainable Tourism Travel Coordinator to support our BC operations this summer. You'll be at the centre of getting youth and underserved communities out of downtown Vancouver and into BC's incredible provincial parks — handling everything from trip logistics behind the scenes to riding along as the friendly face on board.
This is a hands-on role with real responsibility. You'll learn what it takes to run a transportation operation, work directly with a national team, and spend a good chunk of your summer in some of the most beautiful places in the country.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate trip logistics — scheduling, dispatching, and route planning for subsidized excursions to BC provincial parks
- Run day-of operations — participant check-ins, driver communications, itinerary adjustments, and real-time problem-solving
- Facilitate trips on the ground — accompany groups from downtown Vancouver to parks across BC, ensuring everyone is safe, engaged, and having a great time
- Support community outreach — help connect youth facing barriers (Indigenous youth, newcomers, youth with disabilities, visible minorities, and those from low-income households) with our trips
- Handle registration, documentation, and reporting for BC operations
What You'll Learn
This role is designed to build transferable skills you'll carry into any career: logistics coordination, professional communication, customer service, stakeholder relationship building, time management, community engagement, database management, and team collaboration. You'll also gain specialized knowledge in sustainable tourism, transportation operations, environmental stewardship, non-profit work, and the BC parks system.
Mentorship
You'll get weekly one-on-one mentorship sessions with the CEO, plus support from the COO. Both have deep experience in tourism, community programming, and youth mentorship. Beyond the day-to-day, mentorship includes career guidance, goal-setting, resume and interview prep, and introductions to professional networks across tourism, transportation, conservation, and community development.
Who We're Looking For
- Post-secondary education (college diploma or bachelor's degree, in progress or completed)
- Comfort and experience in outdoor settings — you'll be spending a lot of time in provincial parks and wilderness areas
- Strong communication skills and a customer-first mindset
- Organized, calm under pressure, and good at juggling multiple things at once
- Genuine interest in sustainable tourism, the outdoors, and connecting people with nature
- Based in or near Vancouver (the role requires regular in-person trip facilitation)
Why This Matters
Every trip you help run gets people into nature who might not otherwise get there. You'll be directly contributing to lower carbon emissions through group transportation, fostering environmental stewardship in a new generation of park-goers, and helping make BC's natural spaces more accessible to the communities that have historically had the least access to them.
Eligibility
This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs. To be eligible, you must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
We strongly encourage applications from youth facing barriers to employment, including youth from low-income households, newcomers to Canada, Indigenous youth, and young people with disabilities.
