Both on Heart Lake Road in Caledon, five minutes apart, and the bus runs you between them.
We pick you up
Just north of the Yonge and Bloor subway stop. Come up the Asquith exit and look for the bus.
The orchard, and the first half of the day. You get it while the morning is still cool, the rows are quiet and the fruit still has the night on it. This is a classic fall Ontario orchard: you walk out into the field and pick your own, and two and a half hours is far longer than it sounds once you are actually choosing between trees rather than grabbing from the first row.
Good to know:
Five minutes along the same road, and the day changes character completely. Downey's Farm is a GTA institution in the autumn, and Pumpkinfest is the whole farm given over to it: the pumpkin patch in front of the barn, wagon rides, a corn maze, farm animals and a long list of things for children to climb on, fall off and queue up for again. Three hours, which is about right before everybody runs out.

The bus returns to the same place it left from, so you go home the way you came.
This is our estimated return time, not a guarantee. Traffic can change it and some trips do run late, so please leave yourself some room afterwards rather than booking something tight against it.
Two farms and a full day outdoors, most of it in the open.
Pumpkinfest charges admission and everybody arriving by car pays it. You do not. Bring money for lunch, for the bakery and for the apples you pick, and nothing for the gate.
Bags, backpacks and large purses have to stay on the bus while you are picking apples. Take a phone and a card, and leave the rest in your seat.
Downey's Farm does not allow outside food or picnics. Lunch comes from the market and the bakery there, so plan for that rather than packing a cool bag.
Neither farm takes pets. Certified service animals are the exception.

Downey's Farm charges at the gate and on a weekend it is the biggest single cost of a family's day out there. Your fare covers it.
They are five minutes apart on the same road, and each has its own car park to queue for. The bus just runs you between them.
Picking happens in the cool of the morning while the rows are quiet, and the busy farm comes after, when the children are ready for it.
You walk into the field, choose your own, and carry them home. They taste different from a bag that has been in a truck.

Took a day trip to Algonquin Park with Parkbus. They pick up on Asquith Ave. in the Bloor/Yonge area and have a quick break stop at the Onroute Barrie. Cancel more than 14 days before departure and you get a 90% refund, with 10% withheld for payment processing. Inside 14 days refunds are not available, except for a medical emergency in the 48 hours before departure, which needs a signed doctor’s note within 14 days of the missed trip and returns 50%. Tickets are transferable: you can change the passenger name up to 48 hours before departure.
If Parkbus cancels a trip, you get a full refund. We decide no later than 48 hours before departure and only on confirmed conditions: the park closed or the park authority asking us to stand down, an evacuation order or alert, an area restriction order, the highway closed, or the trip judged unsafe to run. A forecast is not one of those things, and trips run rain or shine.
